Mandated Reporting of Child Abuse in Georgia
This presentation will focus on how to recognize risk factors or signs that physical and sexual abuse, neglect, and sexual exploitation may be occurring. You will also learn about the basics of the mandated reporting laws relating to child abuse in Georgia, including changes to the mandated reporting statue that took place in 2022. We will also discuss policies and procedures related to making a report of suspected child abuse.
Keeping Children Safe in a Digital World
The purpose of this presentation is to discuss different types of technology, how they are used by children, and how adults can help protect children in a digital world. By the end of this session, participants will be able to recognize at least four social media apps kids use, define cyberbullying, and identify steps adults can take to protect children from online risks. This presentation is fit for any professional, parent, or community member interested in digital safety.
Positive Parenting: Caring Hands Kind Words
This presentation discusses why we use alternatives to corporal punishment, how it affects children's development, and the differences between punishment and discipline. This webinar will also discuss how caregivers can encourage positive behavior in children and help children better understand and follow directions. Participants will learn how to set realistic expectations and consequences, while practicing positive parenting techniques. Finally, we will touch on how caregivers can and should practice self-care.
Introduction to Child Sex Trafficking
This training serves as a foundation to understand the complex issue of child sex trafficking. Topics covered include basic statistics on the issue, pertinent federal and state laws (specific to GA), pathways to entry, identification of victims, and prevention strategies. This webinar is ideal for the participant who are new to the issue but can be tailored to specific disciplines, such as first responders, school staff, law enforcement and healthcare providers.
Having Difficult Conversations with Children: Healthy Relationships
A large component of preventing exploitation and abuse in childhood and later in life, is to help youth identify vulnerabilities, build safety plans, and understand the differences between healthy and unhealthy relationship characteristics. In this presentation, we will discuss how to navigate these conversations with teens and tweens. Participants will also receive strategies to use when communicating how important it is for youth to recognize the seriousness of red flags in all relationship types.
Partnership for Healthy Communities
Developed through a partnership with a team of state agencies and first-responder leaders, this program is a train-the-trainer model intended to be brought back to various disciplines and offices, such as law enforcement, paramedics, hospital personnel and child protective services, to create a multidisciplinary team response to child abuse and neglect, with a specific focus on physical abuse.
Having Difficult Conversations with Children: Body Safety
Experts believe that one in ten children will experience sexual abuse before their eighteenth birthday. Join this webinar to learn how to teach kids about body safety-and ultimately help protect them from abuse. Educating kids and teens about body safety involves teaching them about their own bodies, equipping them with the appropriate skills to recognize potentially unsafe situations or people, and giving them the language to communicate when they feel uncomfortable.

Digital Safety
In this training, we talk with youth between the ages of five and 18 about how they can keep themselves and others safe online. We also discuss what being a good digital citizen means and how to practice social media and digital safety etiquette. In a developmentally appropriate manner, we talk with youth about the risks of sending inappropriate images or videos and what to do if someone shares or threatens to share their images. Digital literacy is also discussed at length in order to emphasize the importance of being careful with what information or content you share online.
ROAR: Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Program
The ROAR education program was developed by The CARE Center in Oklahoma and is presented by Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. This child-based education program teaches children ages 4 - 8 about body safety and gives them and their caregivers the tools to talk about-and stand up against-child sexual abuse. The interactive and easy to implement lesson is free and designed to be taught in a classroom or group setting. A lion named Rex and his animal friends take children on a journey to find his ROAR, a simple and memorable acronym that teaches children that their bodies are their own and empowers children to stand up against abuse. Take home materials reinforce learning and continue the Rules of ROARing conversation at home.
