Camp Strong4Life is an overnight healthy habits camp for kids 8 to 12 years old who have overweight or obesity (BMI greater than the 85th percentile). Camp Strong4Life is one of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta's 9 summer camp programs that provides kids a since of belonging through a traditional summer camp experience. Our Strong4Life healthy habits meet your favorite outdoor activities: archery, rock climbing and more! Camp week is held in June each summer at Camp Twin Lakes in Rutledge, GA.
Role and Responsibilities
Camp Strong4Life Intern
Start Date: January 6, 2025
End Date: May 2, 2025
Location: Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Support Center
1575 Northeast Expressway Atlanta, GA 30329
Hours: Monday through Thursday 8:00am to 4:00pm; 32 hours per week (May work some weekends)
Compensation: Unpaid Internship
Qualifications:
- Preferred background in allied health
- Previous camp or youth experience
- Understanding of Children's organization, camp mission and objectives
- Desire and ability to learn about project management, program planning, and health promotion
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams, and Canva)
Responsibilities:
- Support camp orientation and camp week program planning
- Assist with camper and volunteer application process
- Develop camp resources for campers and volunteers
- Develop education materials for families to promote healthy habits
- Stay informed on current health trends, policies, and best practices for overweight and obesity prevention, intervention, and treatment
- May represent Children's by attending events in the community
- May support other obesity prevention and intervention programing
